🍎 Amazon Still a Small Sliver of the Grocery Market in the U.S.

We’ve published occasional reports about Amazon’s efforts to gain a bigger foothold in the grocery space.

But according to the latest market share data (after Q1 2025), Amazon (and Amazon-owned Whole Foods) is a drop in the bucket compared to Walmart and others.

Here are all the brands in the United States with at least 1% of the grocery market:

  • Walmart: 21.2%

  • Kroger: 8.6%

  • Costco: 8.5%

  • Albertsons: 5.0%

  • Publix: 4.1%

  • Sam’s Club: 4.0%

  • Ahold Delhaize: 3.9%

  • Aldi: 2.8%

  • Target: 2.4%

  • HEB: 1.9%

  • Dollar General: 1.8%

  • 7-Eleven: 1.7%

  • Whole Foods: 1.6%

  • (T) Trader Joe’s: 1.4%
