đ¸ Is Paying With Cash Becoming Taboo?
Is cash âcringe?â Or is it still worth holding in your wallet and using to pay?
It depends on who you ask â and maybe when you were born.
More than half of Gen Z (born from 1997 to 2012) âare using physical cash as a last resort when payingâ and nearly one-third âbelieve that people who pay with cash are either out of touch or cringe.â
However, more than half of the same generation acknowledges theyâll spend more without physical cash in hand.
Clark says you should keep $400 cash on hand in case of emergency. And says to avoid spending via debit card.
Beyond that, itâs a âknow thyselfâ situation. If you manage credit well and can get cash back, use your credit card. If youâre poor with credit or are saving on a transaction fee paying in cash, well, being âcringeâ in the eyes of the youth isnât the worst thing.
