The movie theater box office was a mixed bag in 2023.
It brought in more than $9 billion, which is the highest figure since the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s still far below 2019’s $11.4 billion in earnings.
Still, there were some smash hits. Let’s look at the top 10 movies from 2023 based on revenue:

2. The Super Mario Bros. Movie: $574.9 million
3. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse: $381.3 million
4. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3: $359 million
5. Oppenheimer: $326.1 million
6. The Little Mermaid: $298.2 million
7. Avatar: The Way of Water: $283.1 million
8. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania: $214.5 million
9. John Wick: Chapter 4: $187.1 million
10. Sound of Freedom: $184.2 million
