🚘 Demand for Hybrids Far Outstrips EVs

“Days supply” is a common metric that dealerships use to manage inventory and measure demand.

It’s the number of days it would take to sell all the cars on a lot at the current sales rate, assuming no additional vehicles get added.

According to the CarGurus Q1 2026 Intelligence Report, the days supply is telling us something loud and clear about where Americans stand when it comes to engine types.

Typically, 60-70 days is a rough sweet spot.

Far more than that? Supply is outstripping demand. You’ll have to slash prices and/or offer incentives to move your inventory fast enough. (Remember, the longer a vehicle sits on a lot, the more it costs the dealership.)

Far less than that? You’re risking not enough inventory, especially if there are any supply chain snags. And perhaps you aren’t squeezing as much profit out as you could.

  • “Plug-in” electric vehicles (EVs) logged an average days supply of 97.7 days in Q1.

  • Hybrids: 46.8 days.

Some of the popular hybrid models include the Toyota Grand Highlander, Sienna, RAV4, and Corolla Cross – all of which boast average days supply under 20 days.

“Customers prefer cordless everything,” one general sales manager at a car dealership told Car Dealership Guy.

Whether you’re looking to score a bargain or wanting to know which vehicles will retain value best, it’s interesting to note.

While old-school wealth looked like owning a low-key, unglamorous business, modern data from Kiplinger and Fidelity proves that regular people working everyday jobs—like teachers and government employees—are achieving financial independence. Later, Clark tackles a growing real estate trend: the rise of the "accidental landlord." According to Zillow, more home sellers than ever are turning into landlords because their houses aren't selling and they can't afford to cut the price. Drawing from his own 43 years of wild landlord adventures—including non-paying tenants and unexpected damages—Clark explains why you should never take this decision lightly.
