📉 Auto Insurance Premiums Fall 15%+ for 10 Models

By one measure, auto insurance premiums fell 6% in 2025 and are projected to end 2026 up 1%.

That’s a welcome respite compared to the hockey-stick price increases several years ago.

But if you’re driving an EV, a hybrid or an SUV, you could see an even bigger price adjustment.

At least 10 vehicles saw insurance premiums fall 15% to 19%, or between $509 and $917 for a year. More than half were EVs or hybrids.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 saw premiums fall 19%, or $704, pairing with an $8,000 drop in its MSRP. That’s the largest percentage decrease this year.

One expert correlates the change in EV premiums to more battery production, more adoption and prices adjusting.

I think a big factor for EVs is that when we talk about insurance, we’re talking about risk. Insurers love predictability,” she said.

Other vehicles of note:

  • Dodge Charger: Largest dollar amount decrease (-$917), but the annual premium remains $4,146 on average.

  • Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Highlander: Premiums dropped 17% for an average savings between $522 and $561 per year.

  • Audi S5: Premiums increased 23% this year, adding $939 to the cost.

  • Acura RDX: Increased 10% to $2,581.

The best way to realize any of those cost savings is to comparison shop and re-shop your current insurance coverage.
