🚢 Cruise Weddings: A Trend Worth Exploring?

We’ve talked about whether living on a cruise ship is viable and smart financially. (According to Clark, at one point it was, but that’s no longer the case.)

But how about getting married on a cruise?

According to one report, it’s a trend among the “destination wedding” crowd. In addition to being all-inclusive as a venue, the price reportedly can be attractive for that type of wedding.

According to Zola, the average wedding in 2026 costs $36,000. But “when it comes to cruises, the wedding itself is typically a fraction of that – sometimes with the whole wedding costing less than a venue on land.”

Carnival Cruises offers a “Signature Ceremony” wedding package that starts at less than $2,000. It includes a 20-minute ceremony in a decorated private venue for the couple getting married and eight additional guests.

It comes with a pre-cruise wedding planner, priority embarkation assistance, photography, a local officiant, a two-tier cake, a sparking wine toast and a honeymoon dinner.

The report says that Royal Caribbean offers “one of the pricier options” starting for just less than $10,000 called “Love Sets Sail.” This private ceremony can accommodate up to 100 guests and includes a DJ, a microphone and a three-tiered wedding cake.

Plus, the couple gets a bottle of champagne, dinners for two at a specialty restaurant, breakfast in bed with mimosas, chocolate-covered strawberries and a 50-minute couples massage.

The downside: wedding packages don’t include the cost of the cruise itself. But it can be an interesting budget-friendly option if you’re planning a wedding at an exotic location.
