🚘️ Evaluating Insurance Costs Is a Must-Do Before Buying a Car
The sticker price on a car isn’t the same as the ownership cost.
Whether you pay for a vehicle in cash or via a loan of 42 months or less, don’t close your wallet.
The average auto insurance premiums in the United States ranged near $2,500 to $2,700 in June. But in the five most expensive states (New York, Maryland, Florida, Nevada and Delaware), you’ll pay an average of $3,805 a year.
That’s $317 a month. Added to a car payment, you could go from paying less than $700 a month to more than $1,000. And that’s before paying for maintenance, gas, registration and any parking fees.
Of course, some vehicles cost more than average.
Evaluating the total cost of owning your vehicle always has been important. But as much as insurance has skyrocketed in recent years, the historical calculator in your brain may need a reset.
It’s worth understanding the potential insurance premiums on your vehicle before you make a purchase.
