💻️ Tech Tip From Kim Komando
🚨 Banking app scam alert: A phishing attack is tricking people into installing an “updated” (read: bogus) banking app. Scammers contact you via email, SMS or voice call. Download their app, log in, and now they have your password. Stay safe: Only update apps via the App Store or Google Play. If you need your bank’s app, go to their website for a direct link. 📊 Where Inflation Stands Several Months Into New Tariffs
Economists have been all over the board with predictions on inflation and how tariffs may impact it.
For his part, Fed chair Jerome Powell has taken a cautious wait-and-see approach to cutting interest rates.
Inflation data so far this year somewhat suggests that 1) tariffs haven’t created as much inflation as expected and 2) tariffs are now slowly impacting the numbers.
Real inflation came in under economists' expectations for four consecutive months, before reading 2.7% for June, exactly in line with expectations.
Inflation fell to 2.3% in April, the lowest in more than four years, before creeping to 2.3% and 2.7%.
But some of the categories may be just as interesting as the macro view. Here’s a sampling of the 12-month price change from June ’24 to ’25:
Eggs: +27.3%
Coffee: +13.4%
Beef and veal: +10.6%
Motor vehicle repair: +8.2%

Sporting events: -2.9%
Airline fares: -3.5%
Hotels and motels: -3.7%
