✈️ Tariffs Lead To Cheaper Airfare, Uncertainty Among Airlines

Every quarter, public companies reveal their earnings. Wall Street and retail investors then adjust their demand for that company’s stock accordingly.

There are a number of factors that lead to a stock going up or down on a given day. But whether a company meets, fails to meet or exceeds its own earnings expectations matters.

In the midst of tariff uncertainty, two industries have seen major companies halt their typical guidance completely: car companies and airlines.

Just as school is about to release children for the summer, here are some of the headlines we’ve collected in the last few weeks:

According to the first bullet point above, airfare fell 5.3% year-over-year in March. People are reluctant to take vacations and spend money on plane tickets due to the lack of clarity around the economy, making it hard to plan financially.

Business travel growth has also plateaued and could be entering a downturn. International travel is getting hit especially hard with countries in the tariff crosshairs on both sides.

If you like deals on airfare, it may be a good time to scour the market.
