✈ Boom Times for Travel Agents
Travel agents are experiencing a renaissance.
That’s surprising considering the number of U.S. agents fell 50% from 2000 and 2012. Clark famously sold his travel agencies and retired in his 30s.
But as The Hustle reported, things are changing of late:
Travel agent is one of the 25 fastest-growing jobs on LinkedIn in the last three years, increasing 63% from 2024 to 2025.
47% of Americans are using travel agents to book vacations, including 38% of Gen Z and millennials.
1.52 billion people traveled internationally worldwide in 2025, up 4% (nearly 60 million) and setting a record.
There are more review sites, comparison tools and travel blogs than ever, not to mention AI. But travel planning can be a huge time commitment.
Convenience, personalization and expertise are selling points. Instead of offering preplanned packages, modern travel agents are custom building trips (or building them around niches).
