🚵 Surprise: Costco To Sell Peloton Bikes
Peloton is turning to an unlikely source to save its sales. That’s right: Costco, baby!
Starting tomorrow, Costco will sell Bike+ in 300 of its U.S. stores for $1,999 and on Costco.com for $2,199. The deal will last 3.5 months.
Yes, that’s quite expensive for a glorified stationary bike (with software attached). But it’s also marked down from the typical price of $2,495. The deal also includes a 48-month warranty, four times the typical Peloton warranty.
Since a high point during the pandemic, Peloton has tanked, leading to a string of negative headlines.
According to CNBC, the exercise company is banking on young, affluent customers to buy via Costco. Roughly half of Costco’s new memberships in 2023 came from people younger than 40 years old. And 36% of Costco members have a household income greater than $125,000.
