💵 5 Items You Should Never Put in a Checked Bag

Plus, as Clark says, “the airlines do most things OK, but when something goes wrong, they’re pitiful.” In other words, good luck resolving your lost baggage issue efficiently and in a way that feels satisfactory.
You should always include an AirTag, SmartTag, Tile or other equivalent tracker if you do check a bag.
“After 30 days, if the bag never shows up, you’re able to make a claim based on the reasonable value of the possessions in your baggage up to the federal max.”
The problem is that the “carriage contract” protects the airline by excluding anything “that is a temptation for an airline employee or contractor to steal,” Clark says.
Never put the following items in a checked bag, according to Clark.Instead, keep them on your person or in a carry-on bag:
Medicine
Jewelry
Electronics (including laptops)
Passport
Money
