✈️ Atlanta Boasts World’s Busiest Airport Again

Air travel is uncertain for 2025 as tariffs and potential ongoing international trade wars on multiple fronts threaten to curtail demand.

But the last two years brought record after record for airport travel. The global passenger count surpassed 2019 (pre-COVID-19) levels in 2024.

Airports Council International (ACI) World, which represents 2,181 airports in 170 countries, released a trove of data earlier this month

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Delta Air Lines hub, earned the title “world’s busiest airport” for the 26th time in the last 27 years.

Dallas (No. 3), Denver (No. 6) and Chicago (No. 8) made the top 10 as well.

The Shanghai airport jumped from No. 21 to No. 10 in a year with a 41% increase in passengers.

10 Busiest Airports in 2024

1. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta (ATL): 108.1 million (+3.3%)
2. Dubai (DBX): 92.3 million (+6.1%)
3. Dallas Fort Worth (DFW): 87.8 million (+7.4%)
4. Tokyo Haneda (HND): 85.9 million (+9.1%)
5. London Heathrow (LHR): 83.9 million (+5.9%)
6. Denver (DEN): 82.4 million (+5.8%)
7. Istanbul (IST): 80.1 million (+5.3%)

10. Shanghai Pudong (PVG): 76.8 million (+41%)
