🚘️ Uber Tests Driver, Rider Gender Preference Option for Women
Currently, Uber is rolling out testing in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Detroit.
“Women riders and drivers have told us they want the option to be matched with other women on trips,” Uber said in an announcement. “We’ve heard them – and now we’re introducing new ways to give them even more control over how they ride and drive.”
Women riders who use Uber can do three things as part of the test:
Request a woman as a driver on demand.
Reserve a ride with a woman in advance “for more planning and certainty.”
Set a preference for a woman in the app’s settings.
Women drivers can turn on “Women Rider Preference” in the app’s settings.
Uber originally launched this feature for women drivers in Saudi Arabia in 2019 and has since expanded it to 40 countries.
