🧑‍🏭 Side Hustles Are More Popular Than Ever

Side hustles used to be rare and exotic. Not anymore.

A recent Omnisend survey of 4,000 people found that nearly half of adults in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia have a side hustle.

The No. 1 side hustle: e-commerce. Although the United States’ entrepreneurs are more diversified than the other countries. (In the UK, 72.0% of side hustlers work in e-commerce; it’s 51.9% in the United States.)

Freelancing (21.3%) and gig economy jobs (19.3%) are the next-most popular, followed by “handyman services,” “care services” and “teaching/tutoring.”

In the U.S., 80% of side hustles make $1,000 a month or less. But 1 in 5 make more than $12,000 a year.
