Clark's answer: Passwords are an obsolete technology, but using a password manager is still better than what we can do ourselves. I use Google's password manager because it’s free, and it creates passwords that I have trouble typing in manually myself — there are so many letters, numbers, characters, and symbols.

But the best thing to do, Hal, as it continues to be offered to you, is to switch to passkeys. Passkeys use biometric access instead of being password-based because passwords, no matter what people have tried, have not ended up being secure. You get access to a passkey through a biometric or a PIN, depending on how you set it up, but the actual passkey is stored securely on your device. As more and more companies adopt biometric technologies, that will give you a much-needed additional layer of protection.
