🦃 Give Thanks for the Cheaper Thanksgiving Meal
Headlines about prices getting cheaper are few and far between in the last four years.
Yet on Thanksgiving, of all weeks, we’re getting a great headline to be thankful for: a traditional Thanksgiving feast for 10 is 5% cheaper than last year and 9% cheaper than 2022.
The “classic” feast costs $58.08 this year and includes:
Turkey
Cubed stuffing
Sweet potatoes
Dinner rolls
Frozen peas
Fresh cranberries
Celery
Carrots
Pumpkin pie mix
Crusts, whipping cream and whole milk
Want to add ham, russet potatoes and frozen green beans? You’ll pay 8% less for your feast than you would have last year.
Prices are 19% higher than they were in 2019 – up an average of 3.8% per year – but it’s still a welcome headline. Especially with the Fed taking a wait-and-see approach to making more interest rate cuts with the possibility of stubborn inflation remaining elevated above the 2% target.
